Should I fill out my document ahead of time?
Please fill out your document ahead of time so that it is ready for signatures, but do not sign it yet!
Please note: A notary cannot prepare the document, provide legal advice, or fill in blanks. The role of the notary is to verify identity (two forms of ID please!) and witness signatures.
What is a Mobile Notary & how does it work?
A Mobile Notary is a commissioned notary public who travels to your preferred location — home, office, medical facility, etc. — to perform notarizations. Instead of you traveling to an office or your bank, I come to you, saving you time and hassle. I am fully trained and carry E&O insurance for your protection and peace of mind.
What areas do you serve?
I am in Norwalk, and while most of my clients are in Fairfield County I also do travel to Litchfield County and New Haven County if my schedule allows it. If I am traveling more than 30 miles I require a $50 deposit ahead of time.
What types of documents do you notarize?
I have experience with a wide range of documents, including affidavits, powers of attorney, living wills, deeds, title transfers, wills, consent forms, permit applications, medical directives, real estate closings, and more.
What identification do I need?
Connecticut requires two forms of ID - one with a photo. So, a primary ID can be your driver license or passport, and a secondary can be a credit card that has your signature on the back. Both must be current and not expired.
These items do not count as ID: Social Security card, birth certificate, health insurance ID card.
Do my documents require witnesses?
Certain documents, like deeds, mortgages, and certain estate planning forms in Connecticut, require witnesses in addition to a notary. Please check your document instructions beforehand. Often, the notary can serve as one of your witnesses… but sometimes not! If you’re unsure, check with your attorney and see what they recommend. I am not an attorney and cannot provide legal advice or make recommendations regarding how to handle your document. If your document requires a disinterested witness or two, please arrange for a neighbor, friend, or coworker to be present. If you cannot find a witness, please let me know ahead of time so I can provide a disinterested witness for you for an additional fee.
What forms of payment do you accept?
I accept cash, Zelle, and Venmo. Payment is typically due at time of service. Credit cards will be accepted on a limited basis and an added convenience fee will be applied to your total.
Are you a Certified Loan Signing Agent?
Yes, I am! If you are opening a HELOC or closing on your new vacation home on Longboat Key, no need to go to your attorney’s office to sign. I am certified, insured, and ready to notarize! Please remember: The role of the notary is to verify identity (two forms of ID please!) and witness signatures. I cannot prepare the document or provide legal advice.
Certified Copies: Can you notarize a copy of a birth certificate, marriage license, or passport?
In Connecticut, notaries are not authorized to certify copies of public records or vital statistics (such as birth certificates, death certificates, or marriage licenses). You must request certified copies directly from the town clerk or state vital statistics office where the event was recorded. However, I can notarize a copy of a US Passport or a Driver’s License via Copy Certification or an "Affidavit of True Copy" where you swear that the copy is accurate.
What are your fees?
Connecticut sets the standard notary stamp fee at $5.00 per notarization. My total fee reflects a combination of this state fee plus a travel and convenience + admin fee, which varies based on the distance, time of day, and location (e.g., hospitals or jails). Text or call me with your location and number of documents for a quick all inclusive quote.
What is a Door Knock Service and why should I hire a mobile notary for it?
A door knock service is an in-person visit to a home or business to attempt contact and deliver important documents when someone is unresponsive. Hiring a mobile notary ensures the process is handled professionally and documented properly, with a neutral third party representing you. If contact is made, documents can often be notarized on the spot—saving time and helping move legal or real estate matters forward quickly.
